Each year our members have the opportunity to enter the TYS Conducting Competition for an opportunity to conduct the Preparatory Orchestra in concert. Designed to give young aspiring conductors and music educators the opportunity to stand in front of a growing ensemble and guide them through a high caliber live performance. Applicants are selected through a process of essays and live auditions, and the winner is coached by TYS conductors and receive podium time during TYS rehearsals.

At the time of winning the Conducting Competition, she was a sophomore at Jenks High School, had participated in multiple ensembles such as the Oklahoma Summer Arts Institute, OkMEA All State, and many more as a violinist. Through the Jenks Middle School Honors Orchestra, she had the opportunity to regularly lead a group of Jenks Middle School Orchestra students through rehearsals and concerts in both her freshman and sophomore year.
